AFTER THE WALL: DISCOVER GERMANY’S HIDDEN HEARTLAND
This special tour [dates TBA] will take you to the Green Belt—the nature preserve that has been established in the former border strip between East and West Germany—, to Quedlinburg, a timber-framed gem of a town in the Harz Mountains with a fascinating history involving, among other things, a Byzantine princess, Germany’s first female physician, and American artist Lyonel Feininger; to Leipzig, the city of J.S. Bach and the Peaceful Revolution of 1989, and to Berlin, Germany’s vibrant and multi-layered capital city. 1. This will be a special tour, as Kerstin has delved deeply into the stories behind these places. I’m sure that with Kerstin’s unique focused, quiet enthusiasm, these will be fascinating nine days.

  2. Sounds amazing! Looks like this tour covers much of the most attractive cities and places of the country when you want to get a feeling both for contemporary Germany and recent history as well as earlier times. Also uniquely set up by visiting the the Wendland and it’s Rundlingsdörfer, getting to meet with a former key activist of the peaceful revolution in Leipzig. And being guided by Kerstin who is so knowledgeable and passionate about telling the stories of these places must be a treat!

    1. Thank you so much Katarina! I wish you could go – I know you love the Wendland, and the group will be staying at a super-gemütlich timberframe hotel in a Rundlingsdorf…
